Role Overview
As an Electrical Engineer at Harbinger, you will be responsible for the end-to-end development of electrical distribution systems. This role focuses on the physical architecture, routing, and component selection for wire harnesses and integrated electrical devices. You will transform complex electrical schematics into functional, manufacturable 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- 3D Harness Design: Utilize CATIA (V5/V6 or 3DEXPERIENCE) to design and route complex wire harnesses, ensuring optimized packaging, bend radius compliance, and clearance from heat sources or moving parts.
- Device Integration: Design mounting solutions and connectivity interfaces for electrical devices, sensors, and controllers.
- Schematic Translation: Collaborate with the Systems Engineering team to translate electrical logical schematics into physical wire lists and harness topologies.
- Component Selection: Select appropriate connectors, terminals, seals, and shielding (conduit, braid, tape) based on environmental requirements (IP ratings, EMI/EMC).
- DFM & DFA: Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Assembly (DFA) principles to ensure harnesses are cost-effective and easy to install on the production line.
- Technical Documentation: Generate 2D formboards, flattened drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for external manufacturing partners.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- CAD Expertise: Proficient in CATIA, specifically the Electrical Harness Discipline (EHA/EHI modules).
- Harness Experience: Proven track record in wire harness design, including understanding of wire gauge sizing, fusing, and grounding strategies.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive or EV standards (e.g., USCAR, SAE, or ISO 26262).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Knowledge of high-voltage (HV) cabling and safety requirements for Electric Vehicles.
- Experience using PDM/PLM systems for version control.
- Familiarity with harness testing protocols (continuity, pull-testing, environmental validation).
- Comprehensive Health, Dental & Vision (HDV) – 100% employee covered
- Early-stage Stock Options
- Robust Retirement Savings (401k, HSA, FSA)
- Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) & Parental Leave
- Annual Vacation Bonus
- Wellness & Fertility Benefits
- Cell Phone Stipend
