Company
Bedrock Energy is on a mission to transform the heating and cooling of buildings, using carbon-free, hyper-efficient, and ultra-safe geothermal energy to radically reduce costs for people and the environment. Incorporated in 2022, we are funded by top investors in climate and energy and are gathering exceptional talent to scale geothermal energy to decarbonize buildings everywhere. We’re seeking creative, collaborative, proactive team members who inspire us with their high standards of excellence, integrity, and commitment to our shared mission.
Role
As an early member of Bedrock’s Engineering team, you will collaborate directly with Bedrock’s leadership team, technology partners, and a growing team of software, electrical, mechanical, and operations engineers to deliver technologies that unlock geothermal heating and cooling at scale. Specifically, you will deliver integrated, intelligent, autonomous subsurface and construction equipment that enable geo-field construction efficiency and reliability. In doing so, you will also help set the early foundation of our engineering organization’s culture, processes, systems, and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead test engineering activities for mechanical and fluid systems including enclosures, structures, hydraulics, fluid systems (pump and piping) and drilling and other subsurface tools.
  • Own the mechnical design and execute the product and component level reliability testing including hands-on testing with real hardware.
  • Collaborate with business development colleagues, operational crews, and commercial partners to design and analyze field projects, acquire and process high-quality data, write engineering reports, conduct diagnosis of routine hardware malfunctions, and ensure efficient completion of geothermal installations. Travel up to 25% may be required.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, and operational engineers for the design, development, manufacturing, and deployment of integrated technologies.
  • Participate in professional societies in areas of specialization, write technical papers, and present at technical and trade conferences.
  • Share skills and knowledge across the organization by documenting best practices, case histories, and lessons learned to the company’s knowledge management database and in team learning sessions.
  • Perform other mechanical engineering tasks, as assigned by Bedrock Energy’s leadership.l Lead test engineering activities for mechanical and fluid systems including enclosures, structures, hydraulics, fluid systems (pump and piping) and drilling and other subsurface tools.
