About the Role
Alta is seeking a motivated and skilled Lab Technician to join our Facility Operations team. This role will be responsible for supporting lab operations by preparing solutions, calibrating equipment and maintaining the lab. The ideal candidate will be a key contributor to multiple science teams ensuring that the lab runs as safely and effectively as possible. A successful candidate will have experience in a lab environment, including lab safety, lab instruments and handling chemicals. The individual will join a group of collaborative scientists with diverse skill sets and must have strong communication and critical thinking skills with a rigorous approach to science.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to Alta’s safety, environmental and health procedures
- Prepare, dispense and document chemical solutions for the lab
- Maintain, operate, and calibrate laboratory equipment
- Collecting, washing, autoclaving and storing lab materials
- Assist in ordering, inventorying, receiving and stocking lab materials
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab workspaces, tools, and equipment.
- Follow standardized SOPs, formulas and experimental procedures
- Ensure compliance and accuracy involving all product tracking, product security, product movement and disposal procedures
- Perform other duties related to the primary job duties
Required Qualifications
- Associates/bachelor’s in biology/chemistry
- 0-3 years working in a laboratory setting:
- Lab safety, operating lab instruments, chemicals, and other general lab equipment/procedures
- Experience in running electrophoresis gels is not required but is a plus
- Experience reading and following SOPs
- Ability to operate common lab equipment, such as pH meters, autoclaves, dishwashers, incubators, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively across multiple teams
- Proven ability to document results and findings during a procedure
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Excited to learn new skills in a fast-paced startup environment

- The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $78,000 commensurate with educational background and work experience.
